Bench Press
Nothing is more foundational then bench pressing for the upper body. Presses work the shoulders, chest, and triceps. Remember, control is the key to a good press. Don’t throw weight on the bar and go at it. Work your way up to solid and clean reps. Tuck your heels into the ground and keep your elbows tucked.
Military Press
This is a crowd favorite. Military press can be done with a set of dumbbells or a barbell. Standing or sitting depends on presence (we do both at Fenix). Overhead presses are great and work the shoulders, triceps, and will aid in your bench press.
Pull-Ups
Yes, the dreaded school gym pull-ups. Pull-ups are classic and a great workout to work that upper body. Having trouble getting up? Use a band to assist and make sure you focus on pulling up with your arms, not by kicking your legs. This a great workout for your lats and your biceps.
Bent-Over Row
Bent-Over Row is a great workout for lats and the upper-middle back. This is going to increase strength and aid in your deadlifts. This free-weight exercises also help stronger your core and lumbar strength.
Curls
Curls for the girls. There’s little that needs to be said about curls. They help build strong biceps with make for strong pulls.
Farmer’s Carry
This is favorite here at Fenix. The farmer’s carry is simple but effective exercise. Grab a pair of heavy dumbbells and start walking. This works the grip and the arms.
