When it comes to building strength, having what your body needs will make all the difference. From nutrition to hydration to supplements, everything needs to be taken in the right amount and at the right time. This can make a HUGE difference in recovery, building strength and how you look at the end of the day.

Are you ready? Let’s get started.

Water

You’ve heard it before and you will keep hearing it: water, water, water!

We can’t say it enough. Every powerlifter and athlete will benefit from drinking more water. Dehydration can have major effects on your muscle gain, your health, and your ability to push your body where it needs to be. There’s no excuse for this to happen. Make sure you have water with you during the day, when you are training, and after workout.

Remember, half your body weight in ounces.

Carbs

Yes, carbs. But not just any carbs, good carbs. You need to make sure you are getting healthy carbs before powerlifting to use as fuel and carbs after your training is done. If you are trying to gain mass and muscle, carbs are the way to go. But, speak with our coach before you start loading up. He can help you put together a meal plan that is going to give you the max benefit.

Supplements

This is a GREAT question for your coach. Supplements can be a great advantage to your training routine ON TOP of everything else like the water and nutrition we discussed. Again, speak with your coach before taking supplements. Make sure they are aiding in your workout.

Rest, Rest, Rest

As a powerlifter, you are going to be pushing your body to the limit, which means that recovery time is vital. You need sleep, good sleep, and the right amount of sleep. Rest goes hand in hand with hydration, nutrition, and supplements.
